Insert Random Thought Here…

Life has been kicked into overdrive, and to write a blog posting about the last 4 or 5 days would be nothing but a jumbled mess of random thoughts, blurred by lack of sleep... So here's just a little of it. Friday night we brought Samuel home from the hospital after the Dr. ordered an echocardiogram to verify that a heart murmur really did disappear between Thursday, and Friday. Everything turned out great, and after a brief stop for dinner and Grandma and Grandad Triplett's we brought Samuel home. Friday night and Saturday night where nearly sleepless, and Saturday it felt like Amy and I were banging around trying to get our feet underneath us. I know I had forgotten so much about taking care of a baby, and I know nothing about taking care of a boy. Samuel seems to have an invisible target pointed on his face, because he is becoming a dead-eye for peeing on his face. Because of his circumcision, we can't really place anything on it to rest and block the stream (or we're being over protective). Friday night, we went through 4 or 5 changes of clothes, and he slept very very little. Again, on top of bieng out of practice, and inexperienced with a boy, we were thrown into the fire figuring out how to juggle two young children. It felt to me like we were running into each other for a good while. Ava, by the way, has been incredible. She is handling Samuel better than I ever expected she would. She is an amazing little girl. On a side note, she told Amy today, while riding in the car, that she wanted to drive when she grows up and she want's to drive fast....
We were very blessed with Ava. She required very little adjustment in her sleep schedule. She slept at night, and sporadically during the day. It seems that Samuel sleeps during the day, and not even really sporadically at night. It was 4:00 Sunday morning before he went to sleep (We started trying to put him down at 9:30 PM on Saturday). Saturday, he did manage to miss his face during the ritual diaper change peeing. He shot a good stream, glanced my shoulder and soaked his bed about a foot or so away. He capped it off with an explosive butt shot of poop. I didn't know where to start...
Today is my last day of vacation, and I'm going to miss the time with the family. We took Samuel to his Dr. where he peed on his face. The Dr. said he is doing great, and Samuel has almost regained all of his weight. He is up to 9 lbs 5 oz. He was born at 9 lbs 7 oz, and left the hospital around 9 lbs. He is eating very well.
Ava is doing so well with him. She loves him so much, and he can't take his eyes off of her. Today I was holding Samuel, and Ava was sitting next to me. He bent his head back around, and just stared at her. She loves the attention, and loves laughing at the different faces, and noises he makes (he snorts when he's hungry...).
One final random thought... A blog for the kids is going to have to be in the works, and is on my to do list.
